Walnut Antiques - 2012
Take a trip down memory lane with me at the Walnut Iowa Antique Fair. Most of the streets in town are lined with vendors selling antiques. This isn't a flea market with counterfeit DVDs and cheap jewelry. Dealers from across the country who have gathered in this little town with the best antiques they were able to bring. Parking is free. Admission is free. Ice cream is homemade. The Lutherans compete with the Methodists to bring you the best homemade pies. Children pull wagons along the street offering ice cold water for 1 dollar.
There must have been a million items for sale. These photographs are a few of the items that caught my eye. I do remember when coffee cans had keys, when sugar was sold in 100 pound sacks and when butter was churned. I played with some of these toys and still eat on some of these dishes. I remember these brands and colors. I may have the latest digital camera but I'm as much of an antique as the Studebaker in the parking lot.
