The Coptic Patriarchate is part of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre since the fourth Century. The Coptic Orthodox Church traces its roots to Egyptians who were present at Pentecost. They took their faith back to Egypt. Later St. Mark the Apostle came to evangelize. The term "Copt" is from a Greek word meaning Egyptian.
