Jersulem - Cardo
The Greek word for heart is Cardo. This street was one of the central roads in Jerusalem - going through the heart of the city.
The pillars were built by the Romans 1800 years ago. The city had been destroyed in Jewish rebellions in 70 AD and 135 AD. The city " Aelia Capitolina" was built on the ruins. I have included a photo of a colored mosaic map that shows what the city looked like in ancient times.
My photos show the ruins along with the mosaics. I took photos of some of the interesting shops and carts we passed on the way. There were fine art galleries, jewelry and the food looked delicious.
