2009 Cranes - Part 2
I returned to the Platte River Valley in late March. Many more cranes had arrived as well as a variety of other birds. The day started with too much fog to see the sunrise. I travelled several hundred miles on gravel roads looking for the perfect photograph. My images cannot convey the sound of thousands of cranes. After their trip through Nebraska, these cranes will split up and each couple will find a remote spot to raise their young. They have been in Nebraska for several weeks now, eating and courting in preparation for the last leg of this spring journey.
